Fun with Gigi

We ate lunch with Gigi today. After lunch, we read books and watched a movie. Apparently, Gigi and Meg were more interested in reading Food & Wine magazine.

Fish burial

Jane Gray received some goldfish as a party favor at a birthday party this past summer. She has taken very good care of these fish, and they lived a whopping seven months. So, she was very sad when the goldfish died this week. Daddy buried them today. He whistled Taps and gave a little eulogy. Jane Gray was pretty emotional. Charlie wasn't - he ate his breakfast during the ceremony. Boys and girls are so different! But, Charlie did respond to Jane Gray's tears and even offered her one of his frogs. Sweet brother!

The Lone Ranger

Charlie loves to dress up. Today, he wore his Batman mask and cowboy hat because he was the Lone Ranger. Meg thought he was so funny. Here is a picture of her egging Charlie on from one of the big kid stools in the kitchen. She is so proud of herself for sitting on the stool like her big sister and brother!

The rodeo

After church and quick naps, we went to the rodeo. The children had so much fun! Meg loved all of the animals. Charlie liked the bullriding, bulldogging and cattle roping. He decided next year that he wanted to bulldog in the rodeo. Jane Gray loved the rodeo princesses and even got to meet a couple! And, we all loved the music! This year, Darryl Worley performed. Meg and Jane Gray were so cute dancing together!

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day this morning with a yummy breakfast and some sweet goodies. Each of us Barbours has a sweet tooth, so we gave each other lots of yummy candy and sweets. After breakfast, we headed to church and then back home again to say good-bye to our snowmen family before all of the snow melted away. The children built the snowmen in Mrs. Good Night's yard, and she came out to take some pictures with us.

Winter wonderland

Jackson received over four inches of snow today! It is a February record snowfall! School was canceled, so the children spent all day playing in the snow. We sledded in the Smiths' front yard, made snowmen, ate snow ice cream (Daddy's famous recipe!), had a snowball fight with the Hurst girls, and played with Cousin Laurie. It was a fun day!

Valentines

Jane Gray made Valentines for her classmates this afternoon. Charlie and Meg didn't want to be left out, so they joined her at the table to color.

Who dat!

FPDS promised the students that if the Saints won the Super Bowl, they could come to school on Monday in their Saints jerseys and T-shirts. Jane Gray was so excited to wear Charlie's Saints jersey to school this morning!

Pop's birthday

We celebrated Pop's birthday Sunday in Yazoo City. Gen, McBee, Linda Kay, and Dicey were there, too. The children helped Pop blow out the candles on his cake, and Pop rewarded them with a game - they took turns grabbing handfuls of Pop's coin collection. Jane Gray and Charlie took the game very seriously and scored some serious change. Meg was just happy to be one of the "big kids," and gave most of her coins to Mary Stewart.

Charlie's TOT performance at MC

Charlie's TOT class performed at halftime of the MC game on Saturday afternoon. Charlie was so excited! He was one of the first ones to run out on the court. He did great, too! He dribbled well and completed all of the drills. We were so proud of him!
