Sweet princesses

Kate McCraney came over to play with Meg today. Meg immediately showed Kate to her room where they dressed up as princesses. Kate wanted to take a picture with Meg by our car, but Mommy talked the girls into posing by our roses. Sweet princesses!

May May

Our cousin May May is one of our favorite people! Who else can get all of us to sit still?

Puppet show

Meg and two of her buddies, Christy and Grace, went to the Willie Morris puppet show today. After the show, the librarian taught the children some sign language. Meg was cute trying to sign the words. After her hard work, she and the girls were rewarded with a yummy snack of animal crackers and Capri Suns.

Mommy's birthday

Mommy celebrated her 36th birthday in style! We had a wonderfull time starting with breafast on the patio (JG was just a tab bit late for school), followed by no lunch together (as we had lunch at Two Sisters the week before knowing Daddy was not going to be available), babysitting with Aunt Stacy while Mommy and Daddy had a quiet dinner out, and finally cake at home. We all love Mommy and wish her the happiest birthday ever!

Sunday stroll

For the last couple of Sunday afternoons, Daddy and the kids have played softball/baseball in the front yard with various neighborhood kids. Today, Daddy said Mommy could pick the activity since my birthday was this week. I chose a nice stroll/bike ride with the family. Meg started off so well, but by the end of the stroll, she had decided it was better to ride on Daddy's shoulders, instead of her trike.

The Jacksons' visit

Carley and her boys were in town for Spring Break, so we played Friday afternoon and ate dinner with the Eisenhauers at Soulshine Friday night. Jane Gray has said for the last year or so that Brady was her "boyfriend." She was very glad to see him!

Fred

Every time Mommy finds a bug or lizard in the house, she calls on Charlie to remove them. Charlie particularly loves to help Mommy remove mosquito hawks. We affectionately refer to them as "Fred." Tonight, Fred didn't fare very well.

Pop's visit

Pop stopped by for a visit and to tell us about his recent trip to Albania. The children also enjoyed telling Pop about their recent trip to Disney World. Pop graciously looked at their Disney photo album with them.

St. Patrick's Day picnic

The children had a St. Patrick's Day picnic in the backyard. We had one of the oak trees in the backyard cut down, so they used the oak tree's stump and logs as their table and chairs.

Visit with Gigi

We spent St. Patrick's Day morning with Gigi. Nana provided the refreshments, as usual.

Bedtime reading

We let the children read themselves to sleep at night. Tonight, we found Charlie like this - he was asleep holding his book! Now that takes talent!

The Currys

We went with Daddy to his deposition in Hattiesburg. Two of our best friends from college, Wes and Marion Curry, live in Hattiesburg, so we stopped in to see them and their two children. We had a lot of fun catching up! In this picture, we caught the children eating Burn's potty training candy. Burn was very sweet to share his candy!

Fred the hermit crab

Jane Gray's class has a class pet - Fred the hermit crab. Fred came home with us over Spring Break, so we took him to Yazoo City. Jane Gray had fun showing him around Pop's house.

Fossil hunting

The Director of the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science has told us to look for prehistoric shark teeth in the creek beds at Pop's in Yazoo City. We took his advice and went fossil hunting this afternoon. We didn't find any teeth, but we found lots of petrified wood, some cool rocks, and a raccoon jaw (which thrilled Charlie!). We walked all the way from the bridge to the horse barn. When we left the creek, we saw this vine and enjoyed swinging on it. Well, Meg wasn't too excited about it, but she did give it a try.

More fishing

We spent much of Sunday afternoon doing lots of fishing. It was a good day, and we caught a lot of nice-sized bass.

Stewbaby

After church, we went to visit Stewbaby's grave. The children picked wildflowers for her, and the girls carefully placed them on her grave. Sweet Charlie said he wanted to sit on Stewbaby's lap, so he did.

S'mores

We roasted s'mores tonight. Daddy, Jane Gray, and Charlie planned to camp out, but they decided to just hang out by the campfire instead.

Walter's niece

Charlie caught Walter's niece today, and she was over five pounds! Charlie was very excited about his big catch and wanted to mount her on his wall. Daddy advised him to wait until he caught Walter himself.

Spring Break in Yazoo City

We spent the first weekend of Spring Break in Yazoo City. We invited the Eisenhauers to join us on Saturday, and we had a great time hanging out with them, riding the four-wheeler with Uncle Will (Ella's favorite!), riding Mo Glo (Charlie got bucked off for the second time - Pop says one more, and he's a real cowboy), and doing lots of fishing. We ended the day at Hasty Tasty's.

Legal Beagle

Daddy ran in the Legal Beagle 5K this morning. We hung out with the Adams, and we cheered (loudly) for Jake and Daddy. They both did great!

Pretty girls

Meg went over to Anne Melton's house today, and the girls got into a little makeup. Don't they look so pretty?

Monday, March 7, 2011

The Little Dipper

Jane Gray's class made a projection of The Little Dipper in their science lab at school. She projected the constellation in the sunroom for Charlie and Meg to see.

Gigi

We are so glad that Gigi is in town! Gigi told Jane Gray she came all the way from Virginia to hear her play the piano, so Jane Gray happily played all of her favorite tunes for Gigi this afternoon.

Children's Catechism

Jane Gray said the Children's Catechism today (she was the first in her class to say it!), and to celebrate, we went to lunch at Two Sister's after church.

Mardis Gras King Cake

We celebrated Mardis Gras with a King Cake. Daddy read the history behind the King Cake, and then we dove in! Jane Gray found the baby, so she is hosting our King Cake Party next year.
