Feeding the ducks and geese at Cock of the Walk

While Charlie was playing with the Browns at the Neshoba County Fair, we took the girls to Cock of the Walk.  Jane Gray had those geese eating out of the palm of her hand!

The big catch

Weekend in Heber Springs

After Desoto pickup, we decided it would be fun to get away together as a family, so Friday afternoon, we loaded up and headed to Heber Springs.  Saturday morning, the boys went trout fishing and then we all, at Pop's urging, went to the cardboard boat races.  We enjoyed the races, watched Charlie eat a ton of watermelon in a watermelon eating contest, and cheered on Jane Gray, Charlie, and Meg as they rock climbed.  We got very hot, so we cooled off at Collins' creek before heading back for some more fishing.  We watched an eagle catch a trout so easily though we caught nothing.  Sunday morning, however, the fishing was much more productive.  The kids caught two trout - one nearly 17 inches long!  After lunch, and some heated Heart games, we loaded up the car and headed home.

Lunch with the Jacksons

We love when the Jacksons come to town!  Today, we ate lunch at Newk's, had cookies for dessert at Beagle Bagel and played all over Highland Village.

Camp Desoto pickup

We finally got to pick Jane Gray up from camp!  The night before pickup felt like Christmas Eve - we were so excited!  We stayed at Desoto State Park with the Hursts.  After an early breakfast, we headed to Desoto and arrived just in time to hear the girls singing "Let's go fly a kite!"  It was so sweet!  Then the girls ran out of the dining hall to greet their parents.  It was very emotional!  After a tearful hello and lots of hugs, we packed Jane Gray, said good-bye to her counselors and friends, and headed to Desoto Falls.  We met the Lindseys there.  Betsy is the daughter of some of our Louisiana friends, and the girls got to be very good friends because they were in the same cabin.  They are planning to ask to be in the same cabin again next year.  After another good-bye hug to Betsy, we loaded up the car for home.  Jane Gray is already ready to go back!!!
