Charlie's baseball tournament

Charlie's select baseball team, the Thunder, played their first tournament this weekend.  They played several seasoned tournament teams, and though they didn't win all of their games, they had fun and made some good plays.  Charlie played shortstop.  He made an amazing diving catch and scooped up another ball and threw it to first for a tough out.  He had several big hits, too.  We were so proud of him!

Pop and Charlie

Pop took Charlie to the Braves game tonight.  They met one of Grandfather Charles's friends there.  Charlie came home with this cool Braves hat and a big smile.  He had a great time with his Pop!

Sweet friends

We had dinner tonight with these precious girls' families.  We are so thankful for these sweet girls!

Wacky Wednesday

For this week's Wacky Wednesday, the swim team broke up into six teams and competed in a t-shirt relay.  The winning team members won ice cream cones.  Charlie's team took the early lead, but Jane Gray's caught up and won.

First Pres Softball Champs

The First Pres softball team repeated as champs of their league.  The big kids were at the swim meet, so Meg was the only one there to help Daddy hoist the trophy.

Fast swimmers

These two little fish had a great swim meet tonight.  Charlie won in backstroke, placed third in freestyle, and his medley relay came in first, too.  Jane Gray's freestyle and medley relays won, and she placed second in breaststroke and butterfly (her first time to swim butterfly).  We are so proud of their hard work!

Birthday dinner at Stix

Charlie requested Japanese for his birthday dinner, so after we picked him up from Twin Lakes, we headed to Stix.  After a delicious dinner, the waitresses sang "Happy birthday" in Japanese to Charlie and gave him a yummy ice cream sundae.  We then headed home for Charlie's cookie cake and another round of "Happy birthday."

Twin Lakes pick-up

We picked Charlie up from Twin Lakes this afternoon.  We could tell he had a great time because he was very tired!  He and the other campers sang some of their songs for us at the closing ceremony, and then he showed up his cabin.  After we loaded the car, we stayed and played a little.  We climbed the fire tower and hung out at hammock island.

Jane Gray's horse show

Horse camp at Winterview Farm ended with a horse show.  Jane Gray showed her pony very well, and Daddy was very pleased.  After the show, Jane Gray received the Happy Horseman Award.  The award is voted on by the other campers and is given to the camper who had the best week at camp.  Jane Gray was also recognized for her horse costume.  On Wednesday, the girls dressed up their horses.  Jane Gray dressed Scarlet as Scarlet O'Hara - we made Scarlet a brown yarn wig and a hula hoop skirt draped with a red chiffon fabric.  Scarlet also wore a very Southern hat and faux pearl necklace.  Jane Gray's award was a picture of Scarlet in her costume.  After the awards ceremony, the campers competed in an egg race - the last one holding her egg won.  Jane Gray placed a close second.  The girls then broke off into two teams and had a carrot race - the girls rode to the other end of the ring, dismounted, and enticed the horses back to the starting line with a carrot.  Jane Gray's team won!  After the games, Susan let the girls ride some more in the ring.  Of course, Jane Gray was the last one to leave.  She had so much fun at horse camp!
