Pinkalicious
Ella and Meg loved seeing the play adapted from Meg's favorite book, Pinkalicious! Meg was literally on the edge of her seat during the performance, waved her pink pom pom throughout the show, and enjoyed her very own pink cupcake afterwards. After the final curtain call, Ella and Meg bolted to meet the cast. The girls hung close to Pinkalicious and even got her autograph!

Saturday Morning in Louise
Charlie and Dad went to Louise today. It was a fairly uneventful morning, but fun was had shooting aluminum cans (impressive shooting as he was 5-6 on that can), finding random animal nests, searching the woods for whatever else was to be found, seeing snakes, other such good fun, and stopping at our favorite country store for a candy bar and Sprite.

Fun at the Prep game
We went to the Prep game to watch Richard Baird. He had a great game and made a really good catch for a first down. We sat with the Bairds, and Meg loved hanging out with Betsy! Charlie and some of his buddies played football in a field next to the football field, and Jane Gray and Sayley walked around with a group of their friends from school, but we all met up after the game and congratulated Richard on his good game. It was a fun night!

Presents from Pop
Pop took a trip out West and came home bearing gifts. He gave Jane Gray an Indian bracelet and Meg a stuffed black bear. He saved the best for last and gave Charlie a bison hipbone he found in a creek in Wyoming. Charlie was thrilled and can't wait to take it to school and show it to his science teacher.

FPDS swim meet
The kids participated in the FPDS swim meet today and did so well! Jane Gray swam in the 4th-6th grade division and placed fourth in her 400 IM and 50 yard breast stroke heats. Charlie was in the 1st-3rd grade division and won his backstroke heat and placed sixth overall in the 25 meter breaststroke. Charlie's classmates made this sweet sign for him.

Another turtle
We found this little fellow trying to cross Culleywood Road. We rescued him and entertained him for a day before turning him loose in the backyard.
First flag football game
Charlie's first flag football game was a success despite coming in on the short end of the scoreboard. One of our first plays was a bomb to the streaking Charlie. Our last play of the game was another bomb to Charlie - they were both awesome. Charlie leads the nation in receptions and receiving yards, and he played well on defense. It was big fun.

Covenant back to school night
Meg enjoyed her last back to school night at Covenant Preschool. She loved showing Mommy her teacher and her schoolwork! She also rode the train, played lots of fun games, and petted every animal in the petting zoo.

Fun in the Delta
We did some shopping in Greenwood today. On the way there and home, we stopped at several fields to check out what was growing. Charlie loved the peanut fields and has been begging us to grow peanuts. Everyone (especially Daddy!) also loved the cotton fields. Daddy and Charlie could have spent hours watching the cotton being harvested!

Sweet Mommy and Meg singing at Sunday night church. Don't tell anyone at First Pres that Daddy was taking pictures.

Ole Miss-Texas
The Ole Miss-Texas pre-game lived up anticipations, but unfortunately, so did the game. It was a childless game and was enjoyed. The Grove was so full that we just looked from the outside.

Ole Miss-UTEP
Daddy took Charlie and Meg to the Ole Miss game while Mommy and Jane Gray stayed behind to let Jane Gray recoup from the stomach bug. We visited with friends in the Circle while Charlie played football and Meg played with her friends and had her face decorated. On the way to the game, Charlie just had to throw the football, so we dodged fans entering the stadium. We had a great time cheering our Rebs to victory, until Meg decided to give us a go home early surprise. Daddy had lots of fun with his two littlest on his own.

Charlie's first soccer game of season
Charlie's fuzzball
Charlie got this fuzzball from his art teacher for being the quietest one in his art class. He is only the second person in the class to receive one. We are so proud of our very talkative and active son!!!

Louise dove hunt
Labor Day dove hunt at Louise. This was another hunt with doves being few, but once again, fun was had by all. Charlie and Pop were able to have a good conversation about guns and life. We were able to return our friend the praying mantis to the woods. The kids explored and found lots of nothing. Jane Gray once again marked a fallen bird better than her father, and Charlie did not want to give up without one more bird. We even had a few grilled doves for dinner that were very tasty.
Fred
We found our box turtle, Fred, in the backyard. Charlie was so glad to see him again. It doesn't seem that Fred feels the same way.

Harrises' dove hunt
Sunday afternoon dove hunt at the Harrises' Eckhart field. Birds were a little few and far between, but that did not slow down the fun - cool shade trees, lots of dirt clods (or dirt rocks as Meg called them), cousins, finding horse apples, time with Pop and Uncle Will, and even a gumball war with Charlie. Meg was fired up to go hoping for a deer or bobcat, but was not disappointed with the results. Jane Gray made a fantastic final retrieve on a bird that didn't appear to have been hit. Charlie was everywhere and having a blast.
