Books for Breakfast with Meg
Daddy enjoyed breakfast and an AR test with Meg this morning before school and was happy to report that he (with help from Meg) made a perfect score on his book test.

Ole Miss v. Fresno
Beautiful day in Oxford with friends and cousins, and of course, Charlie wanted to throw the football at halftime.

Labor Day
We had a lazy Labor Day because we were all tired from our back to back Oxford and Benton trips. Jane Gray was the only one who left the house - she went to the pool with Liddy, Sayley, and Aubrey Scott.

Dove hunt at the Harrises' hay bale field
We went dove hunting this afternoon. A pop up rain shower cooled the field down for us, so it was pleasant, all least as far as Mississippi September afternoons go. The children shot skeet while we waited for the doves to fly. Once the doves arrived, Jane Gray and Charlie were ready. Jane Gray shot the first dove out of a tree by our spot. Charlie stalked a dove in the field and shot it on the ground. He was so cute sneaking up on it. After Jane Gray got her dove, she was content to sit with Pop and Mom for a little while. Meg, Laurie, and Anna Fair kept themselves busy building a fort near our tree. Charlie, on the other hand, was singularly focused on the hunt. He wanted to go off by himself, but we thought he was a little too young, so Pop took him to the middle of the field to wait for the doves. Pop didn't last long in the sun, but Charlie never left his spot. He had a good day and ended up shooting three doves. He was frustrated that he didn't get more, but he never had an easy shot. After we managed to pull Charlie off the dove field, we headed to the Harrises' house for dinner. The little girls had fun running around the front yard while Charlie and Dad cooled off on the porch before we went back to Jackson.
