Jane Gray's 13th birthday party

Jane Gray and ten of her closest friends had a slumber party at Nana and Grandpa's house to celebrate her 13th birthday.  The girls swam all afternoon at the Bridgewater pool (where they took tons of selfies and played the human knot game), ate lots and lots of pizza, and then sang "happy birthday" to Jane Gray over a yummy cookie cake.  The girls watched a little bit of the Olympics opening ceremony and then ate some more at a popcorn bar.  They then went upstairs to the bunk room where they watched movies, did blind makeovers, and played Pie in the Face.  The girls went to bed at 5:00 a.m.!  We woke them up at 11:00 for brunch.  The girls were exhausted but had so much fun!

Meg got braces

The littlest lamb got braces on Thursday.  Sayley got braces, too.  And tonight at Jane Gray's birthday party, Sayley took the first picture of Meg with braces.

This afternoon, Jane Gray took her first Prep bus to her first out of town away volleyball game.  They played PCS in Hattiesburg, and they won!

Desoto Falls

In keeping with tradition, we went to Desoto Falls to kill some time so that we could have lunch with the Lindseys in Birmingham.  The water was very low, but it was still so beautiful!  And Charlie was thrilled to find a lizard or two.

Alpine pickup

We spent a little too much time at Desoto, so we were one of the last stragglers at Alpine pickup.  Charlie didn't mind one bit - it just meant he had more time to play with Jack and Andy!  We drove in to an abandoned-looking Alpine.  Charlie didn't greet us at our car like he did last year.  Daddy had to whistle for him to leave a game of Gladiator Ball he had been playing with Little Tim Lindsey.  Charlie was dirty and tired looking, which meant he had a great time at camp!  He is already talking about next summer and how to beat the Mohawks.  Sweet Carlisle didn't make the trip, so she sent a stuffed owl to Meg, which looks just like the one that Meg lost at Twin Lakes.  Thank you, Carlisle!

Desoto pickup

We got a late start from Jackson, so we ate a quick dinner on the road and then visited the Banovacs at Desoto State Park for a little while before we headed to bed.  We wanted to be up early to get Jane Gray and Charlie.  Pickups at both camps were at the same time, so we decided to get Jane Gray first. We didn't want to miss "Let's go fly a kite!"  We got there with time to spare and visited with the other parents until the doors to the dining hall flew open, and the girls rushed out.  Jane Gray saw us right away, and Meg got to her first.  Jane Gray ran to her Daddy all teary-eyed.  She had a great time at camp and did not want to leave!  The Chickasaws won the Cup, and Jane Gray got her fourth year ring; it was a monumental month at Desoto!
