Charlie's first dove hunt

Today, Charlie went on his first dove hunt. After lunch at Pop's house, the hunters loaded up and headed to the Harris's for the annual, opening day dove hunt. Shortly after getting set up, a small shower came through, so Pop, Mommy and the kids decided to stay dry in the truck. While there and to fill some time, Pop made loops out of some string for the kids to play with. After the rain stopped and shots were being fired, our crew returned and helped point out birds and pick shots. Jane Gray and Charlie were Daddy's retrievers, and they had a great time finding the birds. Charlie made a spectacular retrieve on the front end of a double as he chased the bird all the way down the hill. It took him for what seemed like half an hour to return (he likes to take his time), but he was mighty proud of his work. The kids and Liddy and Genevieve visited on and off and were great. At the end of the hunt and as the thunderstorm made its way toward us, we called it a day and went to the Harris's house for dinner. After running in the back yard, swinging, eating and having a big time, it was time to go home. Charlie didn't care to leave as he said "I love it here and I never want to leave".
