Meg's school birthday party

Since it snowed on her real birthday, Meg celebrated her birthday with her class today.  Daddy read If You Give a Pig a Party, the class sang "Happy birthday" to Meg, and then we partied with chocolate cupcakes.

More snow day pictures

We had a lovely, lazy snow day.  We played games, watched movies, and just hung out with each other.  Charlie isn't in many of these pictures because he went sledding all afternoon with some boys in our neighborhood (Will Burnham, Wilson Cotten, and Lewis Knotts).

Meg's sixth birthday

Meg got a wonderful surprise on her birthday - SNOW!  It snowed so much that school was canceled, and we got to spend the day at home with the birthday girl.  We slept in, and Meg opened her gifts as soon as she got up - a dollhouse and tumbling mat from Mommy and Daddy, dollhouse furniture from Nana, Grandpa, and the Stowe aunts and uncles, and a book from Pop and Sherrie.  Then, we headed outside for lots of snow fun with our cousins and neighbors.  It was really coming down hard!  Once we got nice and cold, we went inside to warm up by the fire and eat birthday cake for breakfast.  It has been the best birthday!  Happy birthday, Meg!

Indoor soccer

Charlie has been playing on a FPDS indoor soccer team coached by Troy Newman.  Charlie has been playing mostly goalie, and he loves it!  The team has lost only one game 1-0, and it was on a penalty kick.  But most importantly, the boys have been having FUN, and Charlie loves playing with his buddies!

Charlie's first buck

Charlie got his first buck this evening!  Daddy and Charlie have been trying really hard this winter, and the persistence finally paid off with 30 minutes of daylight left on the last day.  The buck came out in a food plot along with a doe.  The doe spotted us, so Charlie had to shoot a little earlier than hoped.  The first shot did not go as planned, but Charlie made an awesome second shot at about 100 yards.  We found him just inside the thick trees.  Mommy asked if Daddy or Charlie was more excited, and Daddy said 'yes'.  Charlie spent lots of time telling his story on the ride home.  This was a mighty fine first deer  for Charlie and Louise's first deer.

FBC Moonlight Madness

Aubrey Taylor invited Jane Gray, Jess, and Tatum to First Baptist Church's Moonlight Madness.  They stayed out ALL night and traveled by bus to various places around town - bowling (Jane Gray scored 118 and won!), the movies (she saw Frozen for the 5th time), Pump it Up, and then Shoney's for breakfast.  She came home with dark circles under her eyes, but she said she wasn't the least bit tired.  She's sleeping now.

Meg's Tea Party

Meg celebrated her sixth birthday with a Heavenly Tea Party.  Charlotte Waller was the hostess, and it was held at the First Baptist Christian Life Center.  The party was easy to find because, as one of our friends put it, there was a Hansel and Gretel-like trail of glitter and pink boa feathers in the hallway leading to the party.  Mrs. Waller does a lovely tea party!  Jane Gray had one when she was in kindergarten, so we wanted to have one for Meg, too.  Meg wore her great grandmother Margaret's gloves and loved every minute of the party.  When we arrived, Mrs. Waller showed Meg all of the stations - nail painting, hair fixing, makeup donning, dress up, and jewelry making.  After the girls arrived and got all dolled up, it was time for the tea party.  Mrs. Waller instructed the girls on proper tea party manners, and the girls were eager listeners!  There were lots of "thank you"s and "yes, ma'am"s when the tea (pink lemonade) was poured and the food (cookies, PB and J sandwiches, and goldfish) were passed.  The girls decorated their cookies with pink icing and sprinkles and then joined in to sing "Happy birthday" to Meg.  The two antique tea cups on top of Meg's pink birthday cake were party favors from Mrs. Waller.  After the tea, the girls played some more and then received pink iced teacup cookies as party favors from Meg.
