We spent our Sunday at French Camp for the Fair family reunion. Stewbaby loved a Fair family reunion, and she passed that love onto Daddy. Daddy organized the genealogy chart for the family, and it was a big hit! John Fair emceed the event, and Dave Fair presented the family history. Daddy introduced our family and told the story of how he got his name - Charles Frank Fair Barbour. It turns out that Frank Fair, Stewbaby's grandfather, had forgotten that Stewbaby wasn't a Fair when she had Charles; she was a Barbour. So when she presented Daddy to her grandfather as Charles Frank, her grandfather replied, "Charles Frank Fair, that's a fine name!" Stewbaby tried to remind him that it was Charles Frank Barbour, but her grandfather persisted, so Stewbaby conceded and named Daddy Charles Frank Fair Barbour. After a church service, lunch, and the family history, we went outside for pictures. After what seemed like a long time, we were dismissed to recreational activities at French Camp. Our crew enjoyed a canoe ride, pony ride, rock climbing, and lots of games of Octoball. After a full afternoon of play, we went to visit the Fair House on the French Camp campus. We met the French Camp President's children, Coleman and Dabney. Daddy thinks that Stewart Edwards, their father, may be related to us somewhere on the Stewart side, so the children claimed Coleman and Dabney as cousins. We played a while with them, rolling down a hillside in pipes and petting their chickens. When we left, Coleman and Dabney gave the kids the chicken eggs they collected; the kids were thrilled! Before we left French Camp, we stopped at the cemetery to find the grave of Catherine Fair. She was born on August 1, 1791 and died September 20, 1874; she is Daddy's great great great great grandmother.
