Nana and Grandpa took their grandchildren to the movies today to see Tangled. Jane Gray and Charlie sat next to Nana, and Meg and Grandpa sat together and shared a box of popcorn. We had a great time!
This afternoon, we told the children they could change into anything they wanted - this is how they dressed themselves - all Christmas gifts. And, we spent much of the afternoon playing with our new Christmas toys. It was a good Christmas!
We saw a few snow flurries on Christmas Day, but today, it really snowed! It snowed when we left for church, and it was snowing when we came home. The ground was too warm, so the snow did not stick, but Jane Gray and Charlie were able to find a little snow that had accumulated on our Adirondack chairs. After playing in the snow, the children piled in our bed and warmed up with some of their Christmas candy.
After lunch, we cleaned up and started cooking for dinner with the Barbour side of the family. We had a big, traditional Christmas dinner, and it was delicious! We were all very tired, but we had a great time!
After breakfast, we headed home to get ready for lunch with Nana, Grandpa, and the Eisenhauers. The children loved playing show and tell with their new toys, and Meg and Ella rode all over the house in their matching Barbie jeeps.
After we opened all of our presents, we walked next door to the Hursts' house for breakfast and more presents. The Hurst girls got a puppy for Christmas, and she was a hit! The children loved playing with puppy Chloe and being with their cousins.
Santa came! We woke the children up at 7:30, just before Pop and Sherrie arrived. The children tackled their stockings first and then Santa's gifts. When it was time to open Mommy and Daddy's gifts, it was pretty chaotic! Meg was so excited, she ended up opening several of Mommy and Daddy's gifts. The children were very good this year, so we rewarded them with a trip to Disney World - we leave Wednesday! The girls also received American Girl dolls, and Charlie got a DS. The children helped Daddy open his gift (the biggest under the tree!) - a cornhole game!
Before we went to bed, we had our annual scavenger hunt for the children's Christmas pajamas. The children had so much fun and did really well finding all of the clues. We then set out Santa's milk and cookies and the reindeer food before settling in with Daddy reading Luke 2 and Twas the Night Before Christmas. The children said good-bye to Thomas the Elf and headed straight to bed. No one wanted to be stirring when Santa arrived!
