Jane Gray and Charlie went duck hunting with Daddy this afternoon - Jane Gray's first duck hunt. Somehow, Charlie left his coat at home, but he fought off the cold breeze. On the walk in, ducks were flushing and we were hoping a few would come back. Well, none really came back, but we were very thankful when a merganser kept us from getting skunked. The geese flying high overhead along with the few ducks that would pass by kept us entertained. To close, a huge greenhead dropped right into the decoys as we were about to leave giving us a respectable bag. The kids were great and had a great time (they especially loved their facemasks). Of course, one of the highlights of the day was stopping for snacks on the way home.
