Thanksgiving hunts at Louise

The Thanksgiving break brought us a few hunting trips to Louise.  We had several close calls to bagging the first buck of the season, but they did not cooperate.  The first afternoon with the wind blowing a crisp mid-30 degree breeze, Charlie and I had four bucks within 50 yards, but Charlie didn't have his rifle.  We, along with Jane Gray, returned two days later with Charlie toting his new Christmas gift rifle.  Charlie's buck tempted us again but stayed 150 yards out this time.  A duck hunt with Pop and Will was fun with a few birds cooperating - the kids' highlight of that hunt was Pop stopping at Hinds Grocery and buying bacon.  One final deer hunt almost got it done.  Right before dark, a nice buck eased down the tree line behind us, but Charlie could not get a clean shot - maybe next time.
