Alpine dropoff
Charlie is going to Camp Alpine for the first time. We drove to Mentone Thursday night with a pit stop at Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa. It was rainy Friday morning, and Charlie was ready to get to Alpine, so we skipped breakfast and got in the car line to Alpine at 7:30 for 8:00 dropoff. Once the gates finally opened, Charlie darted to his cabin, Eagle's Nest, to meet his counselors and cabin mates. Charlie's counselors are James Gathings from Jackson and Bennett Valentine from Brookhaven. Charlie's cousin, William Chambliss, Allison Fair's son, is in his cabin. After Charlie claimed a bottom bunk and shelves, and we made his bed and unpacked his trunk, we left him with his cabin and went to the lodge for muffins and to visit with the other parents. We had a sweet conversation with Mr. O there. He said that Mrs. O had been sick and as he was reading out loud the names of the campers, she kept dozing off. But when he got to Charlie's name, she bolted up and said how excited she was that her friend Stewbaby's grandson was coming to Alpine! We also enjoyed visiting with tons of friends from Ole Miss and Jackson and ended up leaving at 11:30.

When I downloaded this picture I was looking at the boy's feet and I cracked up when I thought to myself, "I sure hope his feet smell really good and they aren't like too stinky LOL!"
